The bad news is that it's official: The long-awaited Nokia N91 won't make it's debut until at least 2006.
The reason why: the co-operation with Microsoft and it's Windows Media Player DRM, which provides the ability for users to download music over the air.
"What we basically decided is that we will postpone it a few weeks, push it out to Q1 and do this Microsoft DRM implementation solidly," explained Nokia's music chief Jonas Geust this week.
With the Motorola ROKR E1 phone being released recently, many companies are eyeing the development of this new market with interest. At the heart of it is a conflict of interest; mobile phone networks are not keen on seeing Apple's ITunes software gaining a foothold in the mobile market, particularly when money can be made from own-brand services. Media files are likely to become more and more lucrative as connection speeds increase.
